Frame lock
Frame lock is a locking mechanism for folding knives where part of the metal handle acts as the blade lock. It offers greater strength than a liner lock and is the standard on premium tactical and EDC knives.
What is a frame lock
A frame lock works on the same principle as a liner lock, but instead of a thin liner, it uses part of the titanium or steel handle itself. This design provides a larger contact area and greater durability.
Frame lock characteristics:
- Integrated design: The lock is part of the handle
- Titanium handle: Typical for quality knives
- High strength: Withstands greater stress
- One-handed operation: Easy to open and close
