GBB
GBB (Gas Blowback) is a type of gas-powered airsoft gun that simulates real firearm recoil by cycling the slide with each shot.
What is GBB
GBB guns use compressed gas (Green Gas or CO2) to fire a BB and move the slide backward at the same time. This mechanism creates a realistic shooting feel similar to real firearms.
Key features of GBB:
- Moving slide with each shot
- Realistic recoil
- Magazine holds both gas and ammunition
- Slide lock function on an empty magazine
Types of propellant gas
GBB guns use two main types of gas:
| Gas type | Pressure | Use |
|---|---|---|
| Green Gas | Lower | Standard use, temperatures above 10 °C |
| CO2 | Higher | Winter use, higher power output |
Green Gas is a mix of propane and silicone oil. CO2 comes in disposable cartridges inserted into the magazine.
GBB vs AEG
GBB guns offer a more realistic experience but have lower magazine capacity and need more maintenance. AEG (electric) guns are more reliable and hold more rounds but lack recoil.
- GBB: Realism, lower capacity (15–30 rounds), temperature-sensitive
- AEG: Reliability, high capacity (300+ rounds), year-round use
GBB maintenance
GBB guns require regular maintenance:
- Lubricate seals after every game
- Clean the barrel
- Check magazine seals for leaks
- Store with a small amount of gas in the magazine
