ASG
ASG (Airsoft Spring Gun) is a type of airsoft gun powered by a spring. Before each shot, you must manually cock the slide or bolt to compress the spring and prepare the gun to fire.
What is an ASG
ASG guns work on a simple mechanical principle. Cocking the slide compresses a spring, which fires a BB when you pull the trigger. This system needs no batteries or gas, so it works reliably in any weather.
ASG characteristics:
- Manual cocking: Required before every shot
- No external power source: No batteries or gas needed
- Low cost: The most affordable type of airsoft gun
- Simple maintenance: Very few moving parts
ASG vs AEG vs GBB
| Type | Power source | Rate of fire | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| ASG (Spring) | Spring, manual | Single shot | Low |
| AEG | Electric motor, battery | Semi/Full auto | Mid–high |
| GBB | Gas (CO2, Green Gas) | Semi auto, blowback | Mid–high |
Types of ASG guns
Spring-powered mechanisms appear in several types of airsoft guns:
- Pistols: Budget replicas for beginners
- Shotguns: Pump-action shotguns, popular for CQB
- Sniper rifles: Bolt-action sniper rifles with high power output
- Rifles: Basic models for recreational shooting
Spring-powered sniper rifles are preferred by experienced players for their accuracy and reliability.
Who should pick an ASG
ASG guns are a good fit for:
- Beginners: Low cost, easy to operate
- Backyard plinking: Recreational use
- Snipers: Bolt-action rifles with high FPS
- CQB players: Pump-action shotguns
For active gameplay that calls for rapid fire, AEG or GBB guns are a better choice.
