De Glock is geschikt voor recreatief markeren en trainingsdoeleinden.
De constructie bestaat uit een combinatie van een metalen slede en een kunststof frame, wat het totaalgewicht gunstig verlaagt. Tegelijkertijd is het wapen vrij massief.
De aandrijving van de Umarex T4E Glock 17 Gen5 is een CO2-patroon die in de greep wordt geplaatst. Samen met de patroon wordt ook Rubber Ball-munitie in het magazijn geplaatst; het magazijn heeft een capaciteit van 8 van deze kogels. Er zijn meerdere typen munitie van dit kaliber beschikbaar. Extra magazijnen voor de Glock 17 Gen5 zijn ook apart te bestellen.
Het treklkermechanisme van de T4E Umarex Glock 17 Gen5 werkt in SA-modus (Single Action). De trekker spant het slagmechanisme niet; hij heeft alleen de taak het te ontspannen. De trekker is daardoor lichter. Voor de eerste schoot trek je de slede naar achteren en laat je hem naar voren schieten. Hiermee wordt het slagmechanisme gespannen. Na het schot wordt het slagmechanisme automatisch gespannen dankzij het BlowBack-systeem. Voor het volgende schot hoef je dus alleen de trekker over te halen.
In de trekker vind je een veiligheid tegen ongewenst afvuren, de zogenaamde trekkerpal-veiligheid. De trekker moet in het midden worden ingedrukt samen met de trekkerpal om het wapen te ontgrendelen en te kunnen schieten.
De zogenaamde trekkerpal-veiligheid bevindt zich in de trekker.
