Smith & Wesson M29 8 3/8" Diabolo luchtrevolver
Deze luchtrevolver wordt gefabriceerd onder licentie van het Amerikaanse merk Smith & Wesson, waardoor hij het originele logo mag dragen. De constructie is uiterst robuust en vrijwel geheel van metaal vervaardigd, met uitzondering van de kunststof greepplaten met houtdecor.
De Smith&Wesson luchtrevolver gebruikt een 12g CO2-patroon als aandrijving, die in de greep onder de uitklapbare greepplaat wordt geplaatst. Om het wapen onder druk te brengen, sla je eenvoudig de dop aan de achterkant van de kolf aan. Eén patroon gaat circa 120 schoten mee, afhankelijk van de omgevingstemperatuur.
Het werkingsprincipe van het CO2-systeem is als volgt: Er wordt een kleine patroon in het wapen geplaatst, die via een mechanische sluiting op een doorn wordt geprikt. Wanneer de trekker wordt overgehaald, slaat de haan op de ventielstang en opent het ventiel. Hierdoor begint CO2-gas uit de patroon te stromen, dat de kogel uit de loop drijft.
De munitie, geladen in replica-hulzen, wordt vervolgens in de cilinder van de luchtrevolver geplaatst. De verpakking bevat zes van deze hulzen, speciaal ontworpen voor diabolo-munitie met een diameter van 4,5 mm. Gebruik uitsluitend loden munitie van het voorgeschreven type vanwege de getrokken loop van de luchtrevolver.
Luchtrevolver zijn doorgaans niet voorzien van een veiligheidspal, maar het model Smith & Wesson M29 heeft deze functie wel. De pal wordt geactiveerd door de schuifschakelaar naar achteren, richting de haan, te trekken. Om te ontgrendelen dient de schakelaar naar voren te worden geschoven.
De Smith & Wesson M29 luchtrevolver heeft een trekkermechanisme dat schieten in beide modi mogelijk maakt — Single Action en Double Action. In de Double Action-modus wordt bij het overhalen van de trekker eerst het slaghamermechanisme gespannen, waarna het schot loskomt bij het voltooien van de trekkerbeweging. In de Single Action-modus kun je de haan van de luchtrevolver eerst met je duim spannen en vervolgens de trekker lichtjes overhalen voor het schot.
De korrel en keep, waaronder een vaste korrel en volledig instelbare keep, helpen je bij het richten.
