Réplica auténtica de quizá la marca austriaca de armas más conocida, Glock. Umarex obtuvo la licencia para fabricar réplicas precisas.
Igual que en el modelo real, el armazón inferior del arma es de polímero y la corredera es de metal, al igual que el cañón de esta pistola.
Esta versión de la pistola airsoft no prescinde del sistema BlowBack, que garantiza un movimiento realista de la corredera durante el disparo.
El cartucho de CO2 de 12 g se inserta en la pistola airsoft Glock 17 Gen 5 en un cargador independiente, que puede extraerse del arma sin que se escape el gas CO2.
Principio del sistema de CO2: el cartucho se inserta en el arma y, mediante un cierre mecánico, queda fijado sobre el punzón. Al pulsar el gatillo, el percutor golpea la aguja de la válvula y esta se abre. Por ahí empieza a fluir el gas CO2 del cartucho, que expulsa el proyectil por el cañón.
El cargador también contiene la munición. En este caso, munición de plástico BB de 6 mm, con capacidad para 14 unidades. Puede adquirirse por separado como recambio.
El mecanismo de disparo del modelo Glock 17 Gen5 Blow Back tiene un diseño de tipo Double Action: dado que el gatillo tensa a la vez el mecanismo de percusión, se puede disparar de inmediato. Gracias al sistema Blowback, que tras cada disparo tensa el arma mediante el retroceso de la corredera, el gatillo resulta más suave para el siguiente disparo, ya que no necesita volver a tensar el mecanismo de percusión. Una combinación ideal.
El seguro contra disparos accidentales está resuelto, igual que en el modelo real, mediante el llamado seguro de lengüeta en el gatillo. Es necesario presionar el gatillo en su parte central para desactivar el seguro. Por supuesto, también cuenta con un seguro conmutable situado bajo el cañón. Se acciona hacia adelante y hacia atrás, para el desbloqueo y bloqueo total del arma.
