AEA Sonic Sniper 6.35 mm (.25) Air Rifle
Extreme pressure, extreme performance: The AEA Sonic Sniper is a bullpup-style PCP air rifle with a muzzle energy of up to 200 J, operating at a charging pressure of up to 480 bar (7,000 PSI) —a level virtually no mass-produced air rifle on the market can match.
The design is based on a bullpup configuration, which shifts the entire mechanism backward behind the trigger. This allows an 800-mm barrel to fit into a rifle with a total length of just 1,006 mm —giving you the ballistics of a long rifle in a size that’s easy to handle from a hunting blind or a car. The 625-cc air reservoir can be filled to 480 bar, which means a high number of shots per fill even at full power. It is filled via an 8-mm Foster pin attached to the rifle, and clean, dry, oil-free air is essential.
Performance stability is ensured by an externally adjustable regulator in the range of 150–250 bar, combined with a 100 cc plenum. You can adjust the regulator using a special wrench included in the package— turning it clockwise increases the pressure, while turning it counterclockwise decreases it. By adjusting the setting, you can fine-tune the balance between power and number of shots precisely according to the ammunition you’re using and the distance you’re shooting at. The plenum then evens out the airflow during firing, so that the muzzle velocity remains consistent shot after shot—and it is precisely this that determines whether your shots at 200 meters will group together or spread out.
Never unscrew the regulator’s adjustment nut all the way—this would damage the regulator. Always adjust the pressure gradually and within the permitted range.
The 6.35 mm caliber is the most balanced choice for the Sonic. Compared to .22, it carries noticeably more energy and resists crosswinds better; compared to .30, it has a significantly flatter trajectory, more readily available ammunition, and a 10-round magazine instead of nine.
The firearm is designed for shooting slugs —specifically, heavy ones. You’ll achieve the stated power of 200 J with slugs weighing 60 gr (approx. 3.9 g) or more. The long barrel gives the heavy projectile time to accelerate to full velocity, and the high operating pressure ensures the energy you need for long-range shooting.
A Picatinny rail with a 20 MOA incline serves as the mounting for optics, giving you ample elevation adjustment range for shooting at the greatest distances. The rifle also features an adjustable firing spring preload with a 1–4 scale, an airflow control knob on the rear air chamber, and a buttstock adjustable in two axes —forward/backward and up/down.
Safety is ensured by a manual safety (disengaged when the red ring is visible), a loading lever safety that must be pressed before cocking, and a safety valve that automatically releases excess pressure if the pressure in the air chamber exceeds the limit.
This 6.35 mm air rifle falls into the NO category —it is freely available for sale to individuals over 18 years of age, without a firearms license and without any obligation to report or register the weapon. However, due to its muzzle energy exceeding 50 J, the firearm may only be fired at a shooting range, not in a designated safe area.
